What is the Global Warming?

Global warming is an increase of the earth's temperature by a few degrees resulting in an increase in the volume of water which contributes to sea-level rise or increase in the average temperature of the earth's surface. It is a problem that humans made for the environment. All studies show that the inventions that man made, it is just producing pollutions. For example, factories, cars and AC. Some people are saying that the global warming is because of natural disaster like volcanoes and earthquakes. Scientists are saying that if we don’t stop polluting the earth, the results in the future will be harmful for the next generations. The reason to worry about global warming is the disasters that are happening every year in the world like Tsunami waves and Katrina Tornado. The last record, maybe 2007 was the hottest year. So that means a problem for the environment.

Main causes of global warming

There are many causes of global warming. The first cause is carbon dioxide from power plants, carbon dioxide emitted from cars, carbon dioxide from airplanes and carbon dioxide from buildings. The next cause is methane. In addition nitrous oxide is another cause. Moreover, deforestation is cut down the trees and this one of Global warming causes. Another cause is city gridlock. Carbon in atmosphere and ocean is another cause. In addition, tundra is another cause of global warming and tundra means 'treeless plain' in Finnish. The last cause is permafrost. Permafrost is a solid structure of frozen soil, extending to depths of some area. And this cause because it effect badly in some species.

To sum up, these causes produce an effect and these effects harm our planet and harm our self. So we have to do something to stop these causes to make our lives better.

A specific cause of global warming

Air pollution is the main cause of global warming and humanity isresponsible for polluting the earth. This pollution comes from differentresources in the earth. Firstly, carbon dioxide from power plantscontributes to causing air pollution. People burn fossil fuels in orderto generate electricity. For example, coal accounts for 93% of thecarbon dioxide emissions. Secondly, carbon dioxide emitted from cars and another cause of air pollution. Cars, light trucks, jeeps, minivans andsport vehicles release carbon dioxide through burning gasoline ininternal engines. Thirdly, carbon dioxide from airplanes is anotherreason by air pollution. About 3.5% of carbon dioxide emissions comefrom aviation. Finally, deforestation results in posing air pollution.Humans are responsible for cutting and burning forests which causescarbon dioxide emissions. In my point of view, as all these things areincreasing of the phenomenon of global warming is increasing.

The main effects of global warming

Global warming has negative effects on the whole world. However, in this paragraph I am going to highlight the effects of global warming on the weather, oceans, forests, humans, animals and plants species. Firstly, increasing the temperature negatively changes the climate. It results of the increase severe weather (hot), harmful rainfall and strong storms. Also, as the climate gets warmer, evaporation is increasing because of the warmer oceans. And the high temperature due to global warming leads to glacier retreat and disappearance. Secondly, global warming affects oceans by raising the sea level. As global warming is increasing the glaciers, for example, Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets are melting. So, the water’s value expands and the sea level rises. Moreover, it increases the ocean’s temperature. The high temperature of the ocean affects the ecosystem by melting sea ice, affecting algae that grow in its underside and reducing the ocean’s ability to absorb CO2. Furthermore, it affects oceans through increasing the ocean’s acidification. Carbon dioxide which is produced by the living organisms in the oceans becomes carbonic acid. Scientists believe that increasing of acidification could have a negative impact on the marine life. It badly affects the carol reefs, calcium carbonate shells, fish and plankton. The number of these organisms is decreasing day after day because of global warming. Thirdly, raising the global temperature contributes to increase forest fires. These cause the increasing of carbon emissions into the atmosphere and reduce the overall forest area on the planet. Fourthly, global warming has a direct effect on humans. The high temperature due to climate change increases the number of people die for many reasons. They die because of heart diseases, lung diseases, etc. Finally, global warming influences not only humans but also animals and plants species. As the temperature is increasing, this means that the ecosystems will change. Some species are threatened with extinction because of the changing conditions of theirhabitats.

A specific effect of global warming

Global warming can affect negatively the oceans in three differentways. Firstly, it affects oceans by rising the sea level. As the globalwarming is increasing the glaciers, for example, in Greenland and Antarcticice sheets are melting. So, the water's volume expands and the sea levelrises. Secondly, it influences oceans by increasing the ocean'stemperature. The high temperature of the ocean affects the ecosystem bymelting sea ice, affecting algae that grow in the sea and reducingthe ocean's ability to absorb CO2. Thirdly, it affects oceans throughincreasing the ocean's acidification. Carbon dioxide which is producedby the living organisms in the oceans becomes carbonic acid. Scientistsbelieve that increase of acidification could have a negative impact on marine life. It badly affects the coral reefs, calcium carbonateshells, fish and plankton. UAE and Global Warming

The UAE tries to solve this problem by educating locals and all people by making conferences and meeting. For example, Dubai met some scientists from Australia who has some ideas how to save the planet from global warming with his new project. Their theory was about focus on a television documentary to show the people the global warming in the recent visit to the UAE. The Minister of Environment and Water, Mohammad Saeed Al Kindi in Dubai he think this idea have a good benefits that reduce the warming is happening in our planet. The Australian scientist said that Dubai is a good place to set up factory because of the rule of Dubai to open any factory. His investment for a plant stands at $250 million, a quarter of the price of a power station.

Individual Action

In my opinion everyone must do something to stop this serious problem. I have many suggestions that may be able to help to reduce CO2 levels in the UAE. The first suggestion is to plant more trees in the UAE. Trees help to produce more oxygen and decrease carbon dioxide in the air. The second suggestion is we can stop producing CO2. We can do this by switching from oil to renewable energy. The third suggestion is to educate the people about the effects of global warming in the world by TV, radio, newspapers, magazines and a lot of conferences. These suggestions will not be successful unless the government and society work as a team to save our land from this dangerous.

Summary

In this project I learned a lot of things. Now I know what is the real mean of global warming by use websites internet to know extra information about it. Also I learned what I have to do to stop this serious problem. Moreover, now I explain to my family and my friends what does global warming mean and I encourage them to do something to stop it. In addition, I learned how to set my own blog in the internet and how can I put the information on it. Also I did presentation for this project and it helps me to improve my speaking skills and encourage me to speak to the audience.
